Welcome to the wonderful world of tangentology where it’s all a bit random.
Everything these days has to have a title or a label, or has to have some kind of meaning. Well, this is not one of those places. It is an opportunity for me to share my thoughts and ideas on anything that takes my fancy, like beansprouts, traffic lights or how long it takes to make sand.
Why ?
I have been writing and publishing articles, posts and content for the last ten or so months and thought it was high time I found a place where I could just write whatever I wanted to. Here we are.
For the purposes of this site, my name is Sycamore McBride, obviously not my real name but it will do, a pseudonym, if you will or ‘Pen name’ I came up with years ago when I was looking to get onto the ‘SecondLife’ site. This way back when. I think I filled in the basics but couldn’t proceed because my computer wasn’t powerful enough.
Anyway, my name was my seventies’ porn star name. Oh, hang on, I mean, I wasn’t a seventies’ porn star, just used the formula to come up with a name. I think you had to use the name of your first pet and the name of the road you live on. Actually then, it should have been Kym Sycamore but I preferred Sycamore as first name and McBride was just a cool name. I envisaged myself looking like a mature cowboy type. A bit weathered with a beard and long hair.
That above is the true art of tangentology, just being able to go off on one, no rhyme or reason.
We All Need An Out
According to the template on this WordPress site, this part should be about why I want to help you. Do you need help ? If you do then let me know, I can do lots of things, hang wallpaper, cook, clean, iron, drive a forklift truck or a side loader, play a couple of musical instruments, wire a plug, change a light bulb, read, sing badly, the list goes on. Take your pick, happy to oblige.
I like to write and I like to follow my own train of thought, wherever that might take me. Sometimes that can be far from where I started and no where near where I wanted to end up. It just happens and I’d like to share that with you. I’ve got opinions on lots of things and I like to research, finding interesting snippets so that your eyebrow goes up and you say. “Wow, I didn’t know that.”
A veritable labyrinth of unfathomable depth. Designed with the intent of guiding you through unscathed, almost.
The Purpose Of This Site
I can see that the generic ‘help’ ideas for what to write in these paragraphs aren’t going to be of much use here. There is no purpose per se, well I say that, there might be loads of posts that you find helpful. I could a ‘How To’ section or let you in on how I did certain things. It’s just I’m not setting out to find a problem and solve it. If that happens the kudos to me but it will be as a bi-product of something else. You get the idea, I’m sure.
It’s a free rein to write about anything that comes to mind and believe me, that can be very random at times
I have written over three hundred posts in the last year and finally I’ve decided to put the same kind of effort into this site, just for you. It should be fun, there may be some serious stuff thrown in, who knows, I have no clue as yet. I just want a place I can go to share whatever thoughts come to mind without having to worry that I’m treading on someones toes or not adhering to some set of parameters that have been predetermined by someone else.
There will be both short and long posts, some with pictures and some without, long-winded and nonsensical and maybe more sensible and strait-laced. That phrase there, ‘strait-laced’ does indeed come from the age of corsets. Strait in this usage means ‘tight’ although it has taken on a meaning of formal, prim and proper. Mainly because of the stereotype that those of the Victorian era might have been given and they could be forgiven, as the idea of being in a corset does make me wince, no room for belly laughs there. Anyway, who knew ?
Sound alright with you ? Good then let’s get it on.
